Lessons in Resilience and Adaptability

My life story like many is a testament to resilience, diverse passions, and unwavering dedication.

Born into a military family, watching my father I learnt early the values of hard work, discipline, and financial responsibility.

Our families’ economic challenges of the 1980s underscored the importance of education, and my mother’s countless hours helping me with homework shaped my determination to achieve stability and success through learning.

Around the age of 7 my competitive spirit as an extremely undersized youth found expression on the basketball court, where I learnt teamwork, perseverance and I love for American basketball, particularly Michael Jordan.
This passion continued, thrived (and thankfully grew over a foot in one year) and lasted for 27 years with various levels of individual and team success.

Another outlet in my early teens I discovered was a love for cooking, mastering recipes and techniques through years of experimentation and guidance.

This passion for food eventually became a guiding force in my career path and for over 14 years, I honed my culinary skills, tried to master various cuisines and experience different kitchen environments.

As with many the relentless hours drove me eventually to explore new avenues, transitioning into an amazing role involving kitchen and bar design, supply, and construction.
In an ever-changing industry you are constantly learning, gaining expertise and through dedication I have been lucky to earn recognition across fantastic projects with an incredible team in Western Australia's hospitality industry.

Beyond my professional pursuits, I finally found joy and balance in my personal life, marrying Li-lian Ng, and I am truly blessed to call myself her husband.

A casual interest in ten-pin bowling (and affordable beverages) like most things I become a little obsessed with blossomed into remarkable success, with numerous Perfect Games, the opportunity to travel overseas and competition wins showcasing my self-belief and determination beyond basketball and cooking.

Now I am really enjoying the solace and serenity on the golf course, mainly as I am away from the demands of technology and it’s a challenge you can never really overcome.

My journey so far reflects a man who understands well the challenges you will likely face, loves the idea of embracing new opportunities with enthusiasm and determination and through resilience, passion, and dedication, hopefully can inspire others to pursue their dreams.
